Harley Allen . . . Is a three time Grammy winner who has penned songs for the likes of George Jones, Alison Krauss, Linda Ronstadt, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Hal Ketchem, Joe Nichols, Dierks Bentley. Recently he wrote two number one songs, “Tough Little Boys” recorded by Gary Allan and “The Baby” recorded by Blake Shelton. Harley does a dazzling job on lead vocals on three Moody Bluegrass cuts including, “Lovely To See You”, “Ride My See Saw” and “Your Wildest Dreams” (have you seen the CMT video?)

Alison Brown . . .Grammy Winner and International Bluegrass Music Association Banjo Player of the Year 1991 is co-owner of Compass Records with her musically gifted husband Garry West. After attending Harvard, she received her MBA from UCLA. She also spent three years traveling and playing banjo with Alison Krauss. Alison displays her brilliant banjo expertise on “Your Wildest Dreams”, “Legend Of A Mind” and “The Voice” including the backwards banjo intro.

Sam Bush . . . As of 2004 has performed 30 of 31 years at the acclaimed Telluride Bluegrass Festival and was the founding member of “The New Grass Revival”. Sam has received many Grammy nominations and is indisputably one of the very best Mandolin and Fiddle players to ever strum a string. Sam graciously took the time to come out and lend his superlative baritone vocals on two Moody Bluegrass cuts, “Singer In A Rock And Roll Band” and “Nights In White Satin”.

Fred Carpenter . . . Started violin lessons at age 7 and continued his musical journey until he played with “The Tony Rice Unit” for 3 years. Fred released his first solo recording “Cut Loose” with Mark O’Connor and Roy Huskey Jr. He has worked with such greats as Emmylou Harris, Suzy Boggus, Ronnie Milsap, George Strait, Paul Overstreet and lots of others. He played 6 years with the Nashville Mandolin Ensemble before joining “Larry Cordle”. Fred displays a fantastic fiddling frenzy on “The Other Side Of Life”.

  Lionel Cartwright . . . Began playing guitar at age 10, shortly thereafter he started pounding out chords on his parent’s player piano. By age 15 he had himself a monthly gig at the Mountaineer Opry House in West Virginia. He later moved on to Nashville and played 5 years on the “Jamboree Show “. He had a very successful solo career with MCA with 8 top 20 hits and “Leap Of Faith” went to # 1. Lionel truly hammers that piano on “I’m Just A Singer In A Rock And Roll Band”.

Daniel Carwile . . . The reigning Grand Master Fiddle Champion who over the past 23 years has been crowned the Tennessee Valley Old-Time Fiddle King, an astonishing seven times. Daniel came out to lend his virtuoso qualities with his fiddles, violins, violas, cellos and mandolins, especially his stupendous string contribution on “Nights In White Satin”. Daniel is certainly a true player’s player.

Larry Cordle . . . Was the winner of Country Music’s Song of The Year Award in 2001 for his work on “Murder on Music Row”. Larry has also recently released “Lonesome Skynyrd Time”, which is a bluegrass tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd. He is the founding member of “Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time”. Larry contributes the spoken word recitation on “Late Lament” as well as his handsome lead vocals on “The Other Side Of Life”.

John Cowan . . . Was a member for 16 years of the Grammy nominated New Grass Revival. He is currently touring as the John Cowan Band and is working on an exciting book . . . “Great Voices”. I don't think enough can be said about John's contribution to Moody Bluegrass, from his four backup harmony vocals to the four lead vocals on “The Voice”, “I’m Just A Singer In A Rock & Roll Band” to his superb delivery of "Nights In White Satin”. John also explores a new depth of his range on “Never Comes The Day”, which gives us insight to his never-ending awesome ability.

  Barry Crabtree . . . Has been playing banjo since the age of 7. After high school he spent 11 years with Larry Sparks and the Lonesome Ramblers. During this time he recorded 3 albums for Rebel Records. He then spent 5 years with a fantastic group, “Wild and Blue” which consisted of Moody Bluegrass Producer David Harvey, his wife Jan and sister Jill Snider. Barry pulls all the plugs when he throws down some skillful banjo playing on “Ride My See Saw” and “I’m Just A Singer In A Rock And Roll Band”.

Charlie Cushman . . . Began playing banjo at 4 years old. He was later instructed by Webb Pierce’s guitar player. By age 14 he was playing 6 days a week on a Nashville TV show. Charlie has played on movie soundtracks and instructional videos. He has played with such musical heroes as Andy Griffith, Marty Stuart, Ricky Skaggs, Bill Monroe, John Hartford, Earl Scruggs, Ray Stevens, Tim O’Brien, Porter Waggoner and many many more. Stuart Duncan . . . Tone, taste and timing is his trademark, as he is well known for his amazing ability to play perfectly in tune. This multi-instrumentalist is currently playing with the “Nashville Bluegrass Band”. Stuart lends his expertise with his flying fiddle arrangements on four songs . . . “Lovely To See You”, “The Voice”, “It’s Up To You” and “Your Wildest Dreams”. Stuart also slides in some sweet licks on the slide mandolin on “I’m Just A Singer In A Rock And Roll Band”.

Andy Hall . . . Is a graduate of Berklee College of Music with a degree in music production and engineering. Andy has played with such greats as Dolly Parton, Ronnie Bowman, Charlie Daniels and Rebecca Lynn Howard. Instrumentally look to Andy for driving instrumental breaks on his resophonic guitar (dobro). Andy’s delicate but demanding dobro can be heard on 11 Moody Bluegrass cuts.

  David Harvey . . . Not only is he “The Producer” of Moody Bluegrass-Vol. I, but he also shows off his magnificent mandolin prowess on every song. He has been in the music business his entire life playing with artists like Red Allen, Larry Sparks, Larry Cordle, and formerly fronted Wild & Blue, with his wife Jan, and sister in-law, Jill Snider. Currently, you can find him on the road or in the studio with Claire Lynch, Harley Allen, or his newest swing endeavor, “The Gibson Mandolin Club”, which also features Moody Bluegrass band-mates Tim May and Jan Harvey. David says, “ I thank God for blessing me with the talented group of friends and family, who shared their talents on this project.” “I’m so proud of Moody Bluegrass!”

Jan Harvey . . . As a song stylist, Jan’s smooth, yet soulful singing took Wild & Blue to the top of the Bluegrass and Gospel charts. During their 12 years together, they traveled internationally and were featured on the Grand Ole’ Opry, and the Ryman Auditorium. Jan has also performed with Susi Lucksinger, Sonya Issacs and Vince Gill. In 2001, Jan decided to stay home and raise her daughter, Emma. At her husband, David Harvey’s request, she broke her silence after 2 years and headed to the Moody Bluegrass session. Jan’s sultry vocals can be heard on “It’s Up To You” and turns a harmony line or two on “The Voice” and “Your Wildest Dreams”.
